A long-awaited independent report on European consumer acceptance of edible insects is now public, offering powerful insights for the sustainable food industry. The comprehensive survey, which gathered data from 3,000 participants across Europe's six largest markets, provides strong evidence that consumer attitudes are shifting in favor of innovative, insect-based products.

The key findings are a major vote of confidence for the work for INSECTGROW as one of the players and the wider insect protein sector:

Taste is a Winning Factor: More than half of all European consumers surveyed (56%) who have tried food enriched with insects rated the taste as "very good." This finding underscores that great flavor is the most important factor for consumer acceptance, proving that our focus on palatability is key to market success.

Athletes Lead the Way: Sports supplements emerged as a top category for insect-enriched products, with a remarkable 71% of respondents expressing a willingness to consume them. The report also highlighted that regularly exercising men (76%) are more likely to integrate these ingredients into their diets than women (65%) in the same group. This demonstrates a clear opportunity to target the fitness and wellness market with our high-quality insect protein.

Health and Value Matter: While taste is the primary driver, consumers are also motivated by the health benefits (47%) and competitive pricing (45%).
